iHDTV featured in Internet2 demo
At its annual Fall Member Meeting in New Orleans, Internet2 showcased iHDTV™ software. Developed by ResearchChannel and the University of Washington, iHDTV streamed uncompressed 1080i high-definition video between the conference floor in New Orleans and the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) Control Center at CERN in Prevessin, France. The University of Washington has an extraordinary history of leveraging technology for important discovery. This includes inventing kidney dialysis, perfecting exact atomic measurements, pioneering Web crawlers, collecting and analyzing stardust, and deploying real-time ocean observatories.
A crucial support structure for this culture of discovery and invention is the information technology (IT) and other technology related staff in the university’s clinics, laboratories, and institutes.
The Office of UW Technology partners with UW IT staff and the university community to support innovation, discovery, and outreach through IT, networking, information systems, and information management. Our mission is to:
