The earth's atmosphere, with emphasis on weather observations and forecasting. Daily weather map discussions. Highs, lows, fronts, clouds, storms, jet streams, air pollution, and other features of the atmosphere. Physical processes involved in weather phenomena. Intended for nonmajors. Offered: AWSpS.
Class description
The purpose of the course is to develop an understanding of the physical processes responsible for weather and related atmospheric phenomena. The emphasis will be on how and why processes occur in the atmosphere, while fostering familiarity with the commonly used terminology.
