The Office of the Provost provides leadership and services to the University of Washington in academic, budget, research and faculty matters. Deans, chancellors and vice provosts report to Provost and Executive Vice President Phyllis M. Wise, who joined the university on Aug. 1, 2005. Services are provided through a number of administrative units headed by vice provosts.

Provost and Executive Vice PresidentProvost and EVP Wise is a professor of Physiology and Biophysics, Biology, and Obstetrics and Gynecology and continues an active research program in issues concerning women´s health and gender-based biology. Before coming to the UW, she was dean of the College of Biological Sciences at the University of California at Davis.
