UNDERSTAND

Whether you have a difficult position to fill or are doing a national search, advertising can help. Advertising draws attention to your position and broadens your pool of applicants.

Consider advertising your position in trades-specific journals, local or national newspapers, within professional organizations, on major recruiting/career search websites, or on job boards.

ACT

Think about how long you would like your ad to run, how much your department has budgeted for advertising, and what the ad should say.

Contact your Employment Specialist (ES) who will assist you in determining appropriate media, writing ad text, and/or placing ads. Have your department's procard information ready to provide to your ES. If your department does not have a procard, please work with your ES to determine how to pay for the ad.
