This is the sixth in a series of free monthly workshops where guest charities share how giving and volunteers have made a positive impact on their mission. Offered to UW faculty and staff by the UW Combined Fund Drive (UWCFD).

Eldercare Workshop
Are you a caregiver for an adult family member or do you anticipate being in this role? Register for the UW Retirement Association's Eldercare Workshop to gain a valuable overview for addressing the issues involved. This six-hour workshop, led by former Seattle Times columnist Liz Taylor, will offer practical guidance and resources, including a workbook. The cost is $85 per person or $150 for two family members attending together.

College Admissions 101: Overview for Parents of Teens

The college admissions process has changed since you were in high school. Whether your teen is in middle school or high school, it’s never too early to learn about the process.
Join an Admissions Officer from UW Admissions for a discussion on college readiness, choice and admissions, and how to best support your student’s progress down this significant path. This workshop is offered at three locations:

The transition from home to college life can be difficult for all involved—parents and kids. This month, UW CareLink’s web site offers information and ideas to help families become "college ready." Use ' UW' as the company code when entering the site.
WorkLife Resource Center
Caregiver’s Essential Handbook, by Sasha Carr, M.S. and Sandra Choron, McGraw Hill, 2003, provides useful tips for meeting the changing needs of your loved one who is growing older and losing his or her independence.
