Payables Administration (formerly Accounts Payable) - a section in Financial Services Department, FM.

   

BOR

Board of Regents for the UW

   

C&C

Computing & Communications Department, UW.

   

CFD

Combined Fund Drive - annual giving campaign at the UW, similar to the United Way Drive.

   

ECC

Ethnic Cultural Center - UW building often used for FM classes and events.

   

EDP

Employee Development Plan - FM program for employee development.

   

ESS

Employee Self Service - UW web site that displays an employee's address, earnings, taxes, insurance, and retirement/investments.

   

FAS

Financial Accounting System - the core system for accumulating University financial information. Used by Financial Accounting, Budgets and other campus units for external and internal management reporting.

GASB

Governmental Accounting Standards Board - reporting format for financial information.

   

GCA

Grant and Contract Accounting Department - department within FM.

Grant Receivables Implementation Project

   

ICA

Intercollegiate Athletics - UW Sports Department.

   

IMA

Intramural Activities Building - fitness center on campus available to students and staff (for a fee).

   

LINQ

"Leadership in Quality" - award in FM's recognition program given to leaders in the division.

   

MAA

Management Accounting and Analysis - department within FM.

   

MBTI or Myers Briggs

Myers Briggs Type Indicator - personality preference indicator used for staff development and organizational development activities in FM.

   

NACUBO

National Association of College & University Business Organizations. UW is a member.

   

NEOP

New Employee Orientation Process - Financial Management

   

PAF

Personnel Action Form - used to make changes in an employee's personnel status.

   

PAS

Purchasing Accounts Payable System - used by anyone making a purchase at the UW.

   

PI

Principal Investigator - when used in the context of research grants.

   

PO

Purchase order or requisition used across campus.

   

POD

Professional & Organizational Development - provider of training classes for UW employees. Formerly Training and Development.

   

QI

Quality Improvement - leadership and management approach used in FM.

   

QSTEP

"Quality Staff Exceptional Performance" - award in FM's recognition program given to staff in the division.

   

RATT

Recognition Awareness Training Team - RATT trains employees to use the recognition program within FM. The training is required for all new FM employees.

   

RC

Roosevelt Commons

   

RQT

Recognition Quality Team - team in FM that administers the division's recognition program. RQT reviews and acts on nominations for TOPS, LINQ and QSTEP awards.

   

SCC

South Campus Center - part of the UW Medical Center complex where FM classes are occasionally conducted.

   

SFS

Student Fiscal Services - department within FM.

   

TOPS

"The Outstanding Performance Salute" - award in FM's recognition program given to an individual or to teams who create or improve a process.

   

USER

University Service Renewal Project - university-sponsored initiative to create web-based applications for administrative functions.
